Summer acne can be one of the hardest types of acne, and quite frankly, with yesterday’s snow storm welcoming winter officially to my area, I was relieved. We flat out skipped Fall, going from Summer to Winter almost instantly it seems. The day before, it was about 90 degrees believe it or not. But really, I mean this, winter is one of the best times for my acne, even though it dries out my skin and it’s cold. But summer and treatments for summer acne can be a bit more complicated at times.
But treatments for summer acne are not necessarily as hard as you might think to find. Treatments for summer acne can be found in abundance if you are looking for the right acne treatments in the first place. You should always look for the best of everything. Don’t settle for things like benzoyl peroxide that you can find everywhere, and usually you can find them for about $5. Instead, try something a little more complicated and sometimes a little bit more expensive like bentonite clay for example.
This is not to say that you should never use a common ingredient. For example, witch hazel is extremely effective in doing its job. But it is also extremely inexpensive to say the least. So you can get the bargain acne treatments that do the job right. You should just be cautious about any bargain acne treatment, because cheap tends to mean less effective, at least most of the time.
Summer acne treatment is vital, and finding an effective acne treatment is vital for any season. You literally cannot afford to go without a good option at any given time, especially if you want to prevent sudden breakouts. But because of the sun, heat, and other factors, it just seems more complicated than it is in the summertime.

Adult acne is a complicated thing. Some would even say it’s worse than teenage acne, not only because the embarrassment factor is much higher. I mean actually, it’s harder in that way, because who really wants to be trying to establish a professional look while having to battle acne either in the background or more extreme measures. Moreover, actually speaking, there are more severe types of acne that never really manifest themselves until adulthood. So this does make adult acne worse.
But just like teenage acne, there is no established cause of adult acne, just contributors. With this in mind, there is no cure for acne, because you have to ultimately determine the cause to cure anything. This is just one of those things that cannot be cured and though they continue to do the research, you will have to wait around and use good treatments.
So can you cure adult acne? No. You have to wait to grow out of it just as you would with teen acne. There are some people who will ultimately never actually grow out of their adult acne. It happens to the best of us, and it’s something that is best understood and accepted so that you can get on the road to properly treating it.
This being said, the best acne treatments for adults are actually the best acne treatments for teenagers as well. They are all natural, and though salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are extremely common, they do not actually qualify. Instead, there are those like tea tree oil and bentonite clays that have been proven extremely effective. It’s just best to know all the facts before you really approach it.

Dermalogica is one of the newer acne control lines out there. It is very pricy as it is used mostly in salons and spas as part of facial treatments. You can now buy it but in very select stores and as I stated before for a high price. The prices for Dermalogica products range from $25.00-$47.00 for single products. Two of the more inexpensive products they make are the Sebum Cleaning Masque and Oil Control Lotion.
The Sebum Cleaning Masque doesn’t dry out skin. It works within a few days, however due to the price of this product it is hard to find.
The Oil Control lotion takes away shine, its light on the skin. This product also helps fight acne, has no fragrance, so it’s good for sensitive skin.
If you can afford the price of Dermalogica’s products I highly recommend them as they do work well. Just most of us cannot afford the high prices. There are also many more inexpensive products that work just as well as Dermalogica. It is just a matter of finding one that works well for you and your skin type, and mostly your wallet. If you enjoy the thought of using Dermalogica products the most cost effective way to do so is to schedule an appointment for a facial at your local salon that uses Dermalogica products.

Stridex is one of the few names in acne control products that have been around for a few years. They are best known for their cleansing pads. Plus their products work. They now have a few new products that look promising.
Triple Action Medicated Acne Pads are good for removing make up and treating acne. It contains no alcohol which is a plus as it does not damage skin.
Stridex Dual Solutions 2-Stage System Intensive Acne Repair takes a few days to work, but that’s better than a few days. It helps clear up whiteheads as well as blackheads. It also helps to shrink pores and hydrates skin. It is also one of the more inexpensive products out there.
Stridex Face wipes to go With Acne Medication are good for being on the run; they are easy to use after working out or on a business trip. It helps in the treatment of blackheads and whiteheads and is good for almost every skin type. They also help to shrink pores. This product is a bit on the expensive side but well worth it for everything that it does.
All in all stridex is one of my favorite products to use. They are easy to use on the go and most of their products fit right into your purse for easy maintenance.

With all of the acne products out there Oxy has come out with a line of products just for guys. This line contains 6 different products.
The daily wash doesn’t have much later, and should only be used twice a day at maximum due to skin drying out. This face wash contains 10% benzoyl peroxide.
The face scrub is more of a foaming cleanser with small exfoliating beads in it. It contains 2% salicylic acid so it should only be used once a day.
The cleansing pads are meant to be used every day with the daily face wash. These have a pleasant smell and help to unclog pores and remove dirt and oil. These also contain a small amount of salicylic acid.
The spot treatment contains 10% benzoyl peroxide. This product takes a few days to work despite the label of a spot treatment. It can be used once a day on trouble areas. It also comes in three shades, Clear, Light and Dark.
The body wash contains 2% salicylic acid. It helps with backne and other problem areas on the body. It has a pleasant smell that could even take place of cologne.
The bar soap has 0.5% salicylic acid in it. The product also stays on the skin so it works longer than most other products. It also has the same scent as the body wash.
Overall all of these products can be used together on a daily basis or separately.

The simple fact is that scars are ugly, and once they’re really established, they’re not going to go away. That being said, they get established within a year after first showing up. They fade off during that year in most cases, whether they stick up, are lightly colored, are darker, are depressed, etc. Well that is they blend in with your skin as much as they are going to blend in if you just leave it.
So while obviously, you want to prevent them by not picking at your scabs, acne, etc. there are other ways to deal with it. When you happen to have a really bad zit for example, I find that Neosporin actually works. Obviously, Neosporin heals the skin more properly to avoid any scarring. But if you use it on the zit and then put a bandaid on it, thereby putting more on actually underneath the bandaid to soak in throughout the day, a lot of the inflammation will shrink down, doing less damage to your skin in general.
Now I would suggest using something like that in all stages if you can to prevent scarring. Aloe vera is also a really good one for that. Both of these will also reduce pain oftentimes. So all in all, it’s a good thing.

While salicylic acid certainly has its benefits and in a way it is comparable though not at the same time to retinol, I personally hold a preference for tea tree oil. It’s not that salicylic acid isn’t effective. It’s that it is limited in its effectiveness. It’s of course not as bad as benzoyl peroxide. But tea tree oil has the same effectiveness or greater than benzoyl peroxide without causing dependency and without any side effects of any kind. So I definitely prefer it.
It comes from the Melaleuca tree, and it has been known to popularly get rid of zits in a relatively short period of time with just a 5% concentration. With tea tree oil, it actively gets rid of bacteria and even soothes the skin, which is part of what impressed me about it in the first place. I find that some of the most complimentary ingredients are those that also heal and soothe the skin such as aloe vera for example, and with tea tree oil I’ve seen greater results than I’ve ever seen with salicylic acid. This is actually saying a lot as I have my compliments for salicylic acid and the things that it can do in higher concentrations that others could do. I name specifically the treeman. They thought about using retinol or vitamin A, but the effective ingredient was as it turned out salicylic acid. But in terms of acne, it is not the same as tea tree oil.
